Volunteers

Volunteers play an important role at Evergreen to enhance the quality of life for our residents. By sharing their time they enrich lives; by sharing their talents they help make the day-to-day life of our residents more interesting and varied...

Several areas in which volunteers can provide services to the residents include:

One to One Visitation:
This includes friendly visits, writing letters, reading, participating in games of checkers, crokinole, cards, etc.

Program Assistance:
This includes transporting residents to and from programs, serving refreshments and assisting residents in a variety of programs such as bingo, card parties, music programs, socials, etc.

Entertainment:
This includes providing music, slide presentations, pet therapy, etc.

Assisting with Community Outings:
This includes helping with shopping, dining out, fishing and events in the community.

Evergreen Helping Hands Student Program:
Provides educational opportunities for students from various programs to gain experience in a Long Term Care setting. Duties would include meal tray deliveries, assisting with programs and friendly visits.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact
Paul Wood, Director of Recreation/Volunteers at 678-7355 ext. 241.

Volunteers

Volunteers are special,
We need them every one
Our residents rely on them
to take them to and from.

Volunteers are dedicated,
They give a lot of time
to enrich the lives of others
with kindness and a smile.

Nothing is too hard for them
They go an extra mile
to bring comfort to the residents
which makes their lives worthwhile.

Without them we couldn't make it.
We need their extra care
which only they alone can give
and are glad to have a share.

So volunteers are special,
Each play a different part
in helping all the residents
enjoy with all their heart.

So let us work together
in harmony and love
for what we do for others
will be rewarded from above.
